A Love Relationship with God: The True Weight of Silver and Gold

We are moving through *Experiencing God* by Blackaby and King, and I find myself paused right here on Unit 3, Day 2. The focus is simple on paper but heavy in the soul: a love relationship with God. It prompts exactly the kind of internal dialogue this blog was built for, stripping away the safe answers and forcing a look at what actually drives us.
You have to ask yourself, and you can’t rush past the discomfort of the answer: *Can you genuinely say you would choose God over silver and gold? Would you trade your salvation for fame and glory?*
It is so easy to say no when the gold isn’t sitting on the table in front of you. The world flashes its currencies constantly—status, wealth, recognition, the applause of the crowd—and they are blinding. But here is the terrifying, beautiful truth I am wrestling with today: you can lose your salvation if you lose love, precisely because God *is* love.
Salvation isn’t just a static contract signed in the past, locked away in a drawer while we chase the world. It is a living, breathing connection. If the heart hardens, if the pursuit of the shiny and the temporary crowds out our capacity to love, the tether frays. To let go of love is to let go of Him.
I look back at my own wandering. The moments where the scales tipped dangerously close to the wrong side, where the noise of the world almost drowned out the relationship. I sit here today overwhelmed with a quiet, profound gratitude. I didn’t permanently lose my salvation. I could have let the love dry up completely, but grace stepped in.
By pure, unadulterated grace, God took me back. He reached into the drift of my own making and pulled me back into the fold. Grace isn’t just a pardon for the times we looked at the silver and the glory; it is a reunion with Love itself.
