Exploring the Serenity Prayer

September 30, 2023
But it’s time for me to go home It’s getting late, dark outside I need to be with myself and center Clarity, peace, serenity, yeah
I’ve had a long day, so much to do Now the day is ending, fading from view Time to reflect and let my mind unwind Peace and calmness is what I hope to find
Serenity, I need tranquility No more chaos, time for harmony In the stillness I’ll find sanctuary Realign my spirit, find clarity
But for now it’s time for me to go Back home where my soul can glow The day is done, now for the night Time to rest and make things right

“God grant, Us, Me, or We?”

Us:

“Oh, God, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what can not be helped, and insight to know the one from the other.”

Me:

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.”

We: (this is my personal version)

God,

We pray together for serenity- We pray for courage, to change what can and should be changed. We pray for acceptance, that some things cannot be changed. We pray for wisdom to understand the nature of change. We hope for you to make all things right for eternity and we have faith that you will. We love you and we are grateful for your love.

Amen.

As the day draws to a close and darkness envelops the outside world, I feel a deep longing to retreat to the solace of my home. It has been a long day, filled with endless tasks and responsibilities, and now it is time for me to find respite within myself. I yearn for moments of tranquility, a chance to center my thoughts and seek clarity amidst the chaos of life.

In the fading light, I reflect upon the events of the day, allowing my mind to unwind. It is during these precious moments that I hope to discover peace and calmness. Serenity becomes my guiding light, leading me away from the clamor and discord that often surrounds me. I crave the stillness that will serve as my sanctuary, a place where I can realign my spirit and find renewed clarity.

Yet, as I prepare to leave the world outside and embark on this journey within, I am reminded of a timeless prayer that echoes in my heart. It speaks of the courage to change what can be altered and the serenity to accept what cannot be helped. This prayer implores for the wisdom to discern between the two, illuminating the path towards a balanced and contented existence.

As I recite these words, I am reminded of the collective power of unity and shared aspirations. Together, we beseech a higher power for serenity, for courage, and for acceptance. We acknowledge that change is an inevitable part of life, and we seek the wisdom to understand its intricacies. With unwavering faith, we trust that the divine will guide us in making things right, both within ourselves and in the world around us.

In this moment of prayer, I find solace and gratitude. I express my love and appreciation to the benevolent force that shapes our lives, knowing that even amidst the uncertainties, there is a sense of purpose and meaning. As the night descends, I find solace in the knowledge that I am not alone in seeking serenity, for the collective “we” shares this desire for inner peace and harmony.

With a renewed sense of purpose, I bid farewell to the day and welcome the night, knowing that rest and rejuvenation await. I carry with me the prayer, the hopes, and the faith that tomorrow will bring new opportunities for growth and serenity. And so, with a peaceful heart, I embrace the darkness, knowing that the dawn will bring with it the promise of a brighter day.
