8stops7 Method
September 26, 2023

This is an interesting method that I recently discovered, it is called the 8stops7 Method.
The 8 Stops 7 Method is a technique in psychology and self-help that helps reveal insights into the subconscious mind. Here is an overview:
The 8 Stops:
- Stop Doing: Stop your current actions and take a pause. This creates space for self-reflection.
- Stop Seeing: Close your eyes. This removes external stimuli so you can focus inward.
- Stop Hearing: Cover your ears. This quiets external sounds so inner dialogue can emerge.
- Stop Talking: Don’t speak. This helps thought flow without interruption.
- Stop Wanting: Let go of desires. This reduces mental clutter and makes space for introspection.
- Stop Comparing: Don’t compare to others. This enables seeing yourself clearly, without judgment.
- Stop Planning: Don’t think about the future. This brings you into the present moment.
- Stop Meditating: Let thoughts flow randomly without control. This allows the subconscious to surface.
The 7 Questions:
After doing the 8 stops, ask yourself these questions and listen to the answers that arise:
- What am I feeling right now?
- What do I really want?
- What do I need to do about it?
- What story am I telling myself?
- Is that story true?
- How do I know that story is true?
- Can I see this another way?
This introspective process is meant to provide self-insight and reveal subconscious beliefs that may be influencing behaviors and emotions. The 7 questions help unpack those beliefs for examination and growth.
